Having long hair is no mean feat, especially if you want it to look good. For a lot of people, maintaining their luscious locks takes up a significant amount of time – whether it’s spent washing their hair or straightening and tweaking it to perfection.
An unfortunate by-product of long hair, however, is the stray hairs that manage to make their way onto a person’s floor. Speaking as a woman with long hair, I have no option but to hoover every time I dry or straighten it because of how much I cast.
Long hair presents a problem when you’re spending a lot of time at your significant other’s house if they’ve not got long hair themselves, as you unintentionally end up casting onto their floor, something which eventually got too much for the guy in the picture above.
The final straw for 20-year-old Keenan Meakin came when he put on a pair of socks, only to discover that his toes were entangled in his girlfriend Sophie’s hair. Infuriated, he went on an explosive text rant that almost everyone can relate to in one way or another.
Sophie posted the hilarious exchange on social media with the caption, “Love getting nice texts off my boyfriend”.
Keenan began the hilarious exchange by writing:
“You’re banned from brushing your hair in my room now. I’m bored of finding f*cking hair everywhere.
If I f***ed you off and let a border collie stay here three times a week instead there would be no difference at all.”
The exchange was met with a lot of praise on social media, with countless other guys saying they had the same problem with their girlfriends.
Sophie opened up about their tiff in an interview with UNILAD:
“I was at college with my mates and then I got a text ‘I’m so sick of this hair’ and I just got this big rant about my hair. Then his mum was messaging me about my hair, saying she always hoovered it up everywhere.
He was like ‘it’s everywhere it sticks to everything, it’s all over me all the time’, he had a right tantrum.
Then in the morning when I was getting ready for work, I was about to brush my hair and he just shouted ‘stop’ and made me go in the other room.
After the text message went viral he just kept saying that everyone agreed with him.”
While Keenan might have been upset by the sheer amount of Sophie’s hair in his room, if her selfies are anything to go by, it’s certainly worth the maintenance work.
Check out the video below which perfectly epitomizes the struggles of having long hair:
Keenan also complained about Sophie’s hair getting tangled in his blinds and breaking them. After the sock incident, he decided to charge her for the cost of repairing them – although we doubt he actually held her to this.
In response to Keenan’s meltdown, Sophie concluded:
“What do you want me to do? Not brush my hair? Get dreads? Oh my god. You’re so extra.”
As Keenan ended the argument, he told Sophie that enough was enough and that she would have to brush her hair outside his room in future.
Although, judging by the laughing emojis, Keenan clearly realized how ridiculous he was being by the end of his rant.
Keenan also spoke to UNILAD about his viral rant:
“I was fuming haha just put my work sock on and there was hair inside it all wrapped around my toes and it gets everywhere, in the bed on my clothes.
I let it slide for a while but I was in a bad mood so I just let loose on her. I can’t even remember now I was that fuming at the time, she goes and brushes it in my mom’s room now.
She started brushing it in my room the other day and I sent her out.”
While we’d like to assume that the viral texts from March helped to bring the young couple closer together, according to their Facebook profiles, they have now split.
But I’m sure they’ll laugh the hilarity their tiff created in years to come.
