George Michael may be gone, but he’s certainly not forgotten.

As you may recall, the Wham! artist passed on Christmas day last year after his heart failed while he slept. In order to pay tribute to the late Last Christmas singer on the one year anniversary of his death, his loved ones — including sisters Yioda and Melanie, father Jack, and pal David — took to his website and penned a heartfelt note to Michael’s many fans.

They wrote:

“This Christmas will be hard without him, but we know that we are not alone in our mourning the anniversary of his loss, and that the sadness of our wider family, and true friends, is shared by many of you. We are at ‘that age’ and realize that this year many of you will have had difficult losses too.”

The group went on to acknowledge that family dynamics can be complicated, but encouraged fans to take a moment and “appreciate [their] family and friends.” George’s fam continued:

“So if you can, in his memory this year, take a moment and a deep breath and say those ‘I Love You’s’ out loud. We all think there is time, don’t we? – but, just maybe, it’s later than you think…”

We’re not crying, YOU ARE. Be sure to read the poignant letter in its entirety for yourself HERE.

R.I.P., George.
